New Year Knitting

Yes - I am knitting!!! This is my new year's WIP. It will be a mitten for me in Regia Kaffe Fassett sock yarn. I am using the same colourways, but Landscape for the cuff and thumb, and Mirage for the hand. I love the way I get matching colours but 2 different effects. I do plan to make 2 mittens however and will keep you posted. The pattern is just a general free knitting patterns.

Top Whorl Spinning

DH made me this top whorl spindle as an extra Christmas pressie. I have the book 'Spinning in the Old Way' by Priscilla Gibbs and thought I would give it a try. It isnt any more difficult than spinning with my usual bottom whorl spindles and I have taken to it quite easily. I love the new shaped hook DH tried out on me and he now has all my other spindles to put the new hooks on!!!

One of my Christmas Pressies

DH got hold of a small amount of English Walnut, so he made me this 2oz bottom whorl spindle. I love the colours in the grain : ) Off to try it out..........

Meanwhile, back to the blogging..........

DS thought that, as I have been too busy to knit recently, my Rabbit should take over for a while LOL
I am actually making myself some mittens but I am only 20 rows into the first one : (
Thank you for all the comments and email. You are all wonderful. I'm sorry I havent got round to replying individually yet. MIL is back at home, as is FIL so life is easier now. MIL doesnt get the results of her biopsy until the end of the month, but FIL is comfortable and stable and where he wants to be.
Back soon with some mitten photo's XXXXX
